NAEC Pre-Conference Session Descriptions 2008

Dear Educators,

The NAEC annual Pre-Conference workshops are designed to provide educators with various skills and tools.

This year, the Center For Education is fortunate to have 3 training sessions on Character Education, Relationship Intellegence education and an instructional PowerPoint training session

Click the link provided below to review available sessions and their descriptions to help you maximize your schedule and time at the conference.

Session A:  Relationship Intelligence Training
Trainers: Richard Panzer, Ph.D, and Mrs. L Haft

Session B: The Principles of (PowerPoint) Creation
Trainer:   Mark Callahan

This is an opportunity for anyone who believes in the magic of PowerPoint to change peoples' lives towards God, True Parents and the Purpose of Creation.  We are a visual society where images count for a great deal in expressing ideas, visions and ideals.  Now you can create those animated images to reflect your message.  We will use PowerPoint 2003 version for instruction.

Session C: Creating A Culture of Heart, Love and Service through Implementing Character Education in the Home, School and Community
Trainers:   Alan Saunders, Poppy Richie, Sally Sayre

Participants in the character education and life skills workshop will be introduced to the concept of character education and how it can support them in their community outreach. College youth will highlight their experiences in teaching children and youth in Asia, the Caribbean and in Africa. We will also review the new parent manual which has been developed to supplement the Discovering the Real Me curriculum. Participants will receive two copies of the curriculum. Ample time will be given to discuss how to implement the initiative at the home, school and community levels.

Session D: The Nuts and Bolts of Developing a Community of Practice
Trainer:   Heather Thalheimer

Utilizing Communities of Practice represents a new approach to solving complex educational problems and provides a way for people actively engaged in the work to share their expertise and resources, as well as learn from a broader community of educators. This half-day pre-conference session will help you learn about Communities of Practice as a strategy and provide hands on guidance showing you how you can implement one in your particular area of education.

This presentation will be most relevant to people who want to take a leadership role in building capacity within their ministry area and are willing to facilitate the development of a Community of Practice.

Session E: Living Love Relationship Seminar Trainer

Trainer: David Hunter

The purpose of this workshop is to give participants an experience of the Living Love Relationship Seminar, a brand new interactive seminar that can be used as an introduction to the Divine Principle, and train them how to facilitate the seminar on their own. The Living Love Relationship Seminar allows participants to take a deeper look at and enhance their own relationships. Each participant will receive a script for the seminar at the end of the workshop.
